How to: Choose the Right Necklace for Different Necklines

A little while ago, I had a request from one of my readers to do a post on how to accessorize! It inspired me to put together this post, which is my take on how to pair the best necklace for different necklines! Whether it be a top or dress, there are so many different styles of necklines out there, but today I will share with you my top 6, and which style of necklace I think looks best with each! You can dress up a simple top, or make a fabulous outfit pop even more with the perfect necklace! So let's get started!!:D

6 Common Necklines:

1. Crew Neck

For a crew neck, I think a shorter necklace that sits at the rim of the neckline is very flattering! Go for a necklace that has detailing throughout it (like below) instead of a pendant style necklace.

Soft Blazers & Blue Skies

Hey everyone hope you're all doing well! So a little update with my life, I recently started working for Dynamite's management team at their Bay Centre location in Victoria! I am really enjoying it so far..everything from styling customers and helping them find the perfect outfit; to learning how to successfully manage a clothing store and coach others; and to applying business strategies of this Montreal-based international company. I love the people I work with and everyday is exciting!

Dynamite has always been one of my favourite stores to shop at, and this year this Canadian company is celebrating their 30th anniversary. Their Fall 2014 collection is absolutely gorgeous with lots of faux leather, burgundies and stylish blazers. Dynamite is the place to go to find an outfit that can take you from work to a night out, as well as keep you looking chic on the weekends! On November 15th, they will be opening their new location in Uptown, combining their store with Garage. If you are interested in working as a sales associate or manager, drop off your resume at the Bay Centre or Mayfair location or apply online at Dynamite.ca (look for upcoming posting soon). Definitely check out their new store once it opens! Also come visit me downtown if you're looking for a new outfit or need some style advice! I'll be more than happy to help! :D

Now for todays outfit! I am in LOVE with this soft blazer, I couldn't help myself from getting it in 2 other colours (black and blue). If there is one thing you need to add to your wardrobe this season its this! This "overpiece" looks like a blazer but is much more comfortable as the material is light and stretchy, giving your arms a lot more flexibility! (Plus they have pockets.. bonus!) It's so easy to throw on, you can simply dress it up or down taking you from professional to casual. I love the colour combo with this gorgeous blouse. The sheer touch down the middle is very delicate and feminine. It's such a versatile top that can instantly add more class to an outfit. The leggings are really well made and have a thick elastic band on each side which cinches you in nicely around the waist. They are mid-rise, and have a line down the front and back giving a slimming look. Paired with some black heels or flats, you can wear this look straight from your office to a night out for dinner or drinks! If leggings are too casual for your work place, switch to a classic business pant in the cut of your choice! :) Hope you enjoyed todays post and thanks again for reading!xo

Fall Calls For Plaid

Fall is by far my favourite season when it comes to fashion! Scarves, high socks, boots, warm sweaters..do I have to keep going? ;) And of course you cannot forget plaid, which screams fall and is such an essential for your closet! Today's outfit is super casual, perfect for school or running errands in. I love the look of "not wearing" your shirt by tying it around your waist (plus if you get cold you can just throw it on). Remember back in the day when that was the cool thing to do? I think its back because I've seen it a lot lately! :) Pull out your favourite plaid shirts and try twisting this look into your own style! Until next time! xo

Work to Happy Hour in Polka Dots

For those of you ladies that are currently working that 9-to-5 this post is for you! Sometimes after work you meet your girls for dinner or go for drinks with your co-workers, and you don’t have the time to go home and get ready. Today, I'll show you how to transform your outfit from work to happy hour!

Outfit #1: Work

If you're looking for a clean, simple and classic look for work, you can't ever go wrong with black and white. To add a little something to the outfit, I went for this cute polka dot blouse. I let it be the "centre of attention" and stuck to a black pencil skirt and comfy wedges. Sheer blouses are a MUST in any wardrobe, because they literally can be worn to work, casually tucked into jeans, and as you'll see in Outfit #2 loosely worn for the evening!

For makeup and hair I kept it very simple. Black winged liner on the top with a nude lip. Then for hair, I just took two strands from the front and pinned it at the back of my head, criss-crossing the bobby pins. It keeps the hair out of my face..plus it looks like I tried a little ;)

Tropicana

My last run to F21 I picked up these adorable shorts and have been dying to blog about them! They are wrap shorts- the material slings in the front and is tied (whatever style you like) to one side, making it partially look like a skirt! I have never seen shorts quite like this! Have you?? The print and colours are what initially caught my eye, it screams summer and reminds me of a vacation! :) I would rock this outfit more for a night look, but paired with sandals and less jewelry would be perfect for a hot summer day! Also, if crop tops aren’t your thing, a simple white V-neck T would look great! PS: Excuse the hair blowing everywhere, it was a little windy! Thanks for reading! ♡

Cutting Edge Looks to Rock This Summer

Need to add a little kick to your style this summer? You're in luck! Today I have for you 2 separate outfit ideas you can wear (with a dark lip) to rock the subtle edgy look. To find pieces to achieve this kind of look is Reunion Boutique, formerly known as Rebel Rebel. It is a popular urban chic boutique with brands from LA, NY, Sweden and Italy! With a wide range of styles there's literally a little bit of everything for everyone!;) Their feminine and edgy pieces is what attracts me into their store over and over again!

Outfit #1: Leather & Leopard

I love everything about this first outfit!! The top is a faux leather crop top, that I can promise will go with so many things in your closet! Very versatile! The shorts are leopard print..I don't think I need to expand any more;) The cut of both pieces are so unique and I am a huge fan of them together! I love mixing different textures and prints in an outfit. It adds so much personality to the look, I definitely encourage you to give it a try too! Finally, the necklace is very simple but it's what pulls the outfit together! (Never forget your accessories ladies!)

2 Summer Dresses ft. DalyCo Boutique

Hey all! So summer is here and that means one thing..dresses! One of my favourite boutiques to go shopping for dresses in Victoria is DalyCo. They have a great selection of trendy dresses for both day and night, as well as shoes, accessories and more, all at an affordable price!

Outfit #1: Cute Floral

This adorable dress is perfect for summer, super lightweight and the colours together are gorgeous! Floral print is a must in every girl's wardrobe for this time of year. Pair it with a denim jacket and some simple flats/ sandals and you're out the door.

How to: Dress up your Crop Top

The crop top. I could go on for ages about how much I love them for summer and all the many ways to wear them! Today, I will show you one of my versions of dressing them up. To start, grab your favourite crop top, (mine is from Growze Los Angeles) and pair it with a high waisted harem pant- patterned or solid colour works! Harem pants are so stylish and comfy, I love how they can be dressed up giving you that classy look, especially if they are leopard print- not being biased, I swear ;) Fancy sandals would look great with this look too if you aren't into wearing heels all day or night. Don't forget to throw on a bold lip and some fashionable shades! I'm wearing Russian Red by Mac, and my sunglasses are by Emoda. I am in love with the subtle cat-look and rimless bottoms..more like obsessed! Of course, don't forget your accessories to complete the outfit. I think this look will be perfect for those summer nights out for drinks on the patio! Trust me, all eyes will be on you ;)

Paris

Today's post is a combination of my favourites right now: black, white, prints and denim! Denim is everywhere this season like I mentioned already and with all the shopping I've been doing lately I think I have bought enough denim to last my obsession for a little while! I think this jacket dresses down the outfit just right for more of a day time look, yet switching to a loose blazer would be perfect for night! I love how day or night girls in Japan get dressed up and wear sky high heels! I guess theres nothing really stopping me from when I return back to Canada:)

Stylish Sweats

I have about 3 weeks left in Kyoto before I head back to Canada. Oh how time flies! My journey in Japan has been the most amazing 7 months of my life!! As much as I don't want to return home and I want to stay here I know that another chapter of my life is about to start, and for that I am excited to hop on the next train to my new adventure!

Okay so let's talk fashion now! I wanted to focus today's post on my sweatpants from Zara. These casual fashionable sweats were a huge trend last fall. I had my eye on these specific ones when they first came out and I finally caved and bought them at the beginning of this year. I love these ones as from the front they are grey but the back is all black. I went to Zara yesterday and it looks like sweats will be in style this spring as well:) They are so comfy yet fashionable and can be dressed up or down. I've seen tons of looks where they have been paired with heels- something I will definitely be giving a try once I go home to 90% of my wardrobe!;)

Blazer Up

Ever since my internship started in January, I have been practically living in business casual attire. So I thought I would share with you a typical look you can also wear to the office! It's professional yet slightly girly with all the accessories. Of course depending on you're work place you can play around with these!

What makes this outfit pop is this gorgeous blue blazer! Also, this is my favourite colour of blue and is ideal for the spring time. I went shopping the other day to check out the spring trends and it looks like blue, mint, yellow and pink are this season's trends in Japan:) So ladies go into your closets I'm sure you have a coloured blazer (if not, excuse to go buy a new one hey?) and you'll be able to style up so many outfits! Trust me a well-fitted blazer will never let you down ;)

Soft Leopard

Currently in Japan it is every student’s favourite time of year...exam time. So today's outfit post is an easy look I put together for hitting the library in. My go-to are leggings + UGGs when it comes to this-so comfy yet put together!

As I mentioned in one of my previous posts scarves are a must for me in the winter time. This one from ‘Heather’ has got to be my favourite at the moment (not just because it’s leopard print) but because a.) it is so incredibly warm b.) it matches my boots and c.) well yes...it’s leopard print. I am extremely picky when it comes to this fabulous print and finding a lighter tone is actually quite rare. I love this one as it gives off more of a softer look and a completely different vibe! Finally instead of just wearing studs, to switch it up I am wearing these gorgeous hoop earrings from Paris I got as a present from one of my best friends!:)

Happy studying everyone! xo

Tokyu Plaza

Ever since I've been in Japan I have been really into the look of a loose sweater dress paired with knee high socks. It's so comfy yet adorable! This was my go to look for school last semester, but it's super wearable for the weekend when you don't want to spend too much time in the morning figuring out what to wear!

Some of you may recognize that these photos are taken at the Tokyu Plaza in Harajuku. I remember when I first came here back in September I fell in love with this place as the mirror architecture is so cool! I recommend paying it a visit if you come to Tokyo, as well they have some great shopping inside too!:)

Snapbacks & Killer Shoes

They say, the higher the heel the better you feel. I couldn't agree more, as I am slightly obsessed with these fabulous wedges from Murua! Murua is one of my favorite stores to shop at as they always have really unique pieces, especially their shoes! I love how this outfit has so much going on from head to toe. Sometimes "less is more" doesn't quite cut it for me ;)

Autumn Leaves

The weather in Tokyo has been amazing lately and I have been taking full advantage of it by wearing all my skirts and shorts before the weather gets too cold. For this look I wanted to focus on my top. I find it difficult to come across cute pieces that have a great back detailing, so there was no way I was walking away from it. I think it adds so much to the outfit especially since you wouldn't expect it. Finally, since I'm wearing all neutral colors I couldn't help but add a pop of leopard to complete the look!;)

Russian Red

I wore this outfit shopping the other day in Shibuya as I was wanting to go for more of a bold look. I rarely ever wear more than a nude or pink lip, so I went for this bright red one from M.A.C. called "Russian Red". It got me excited to start trying different colored lipsticks so I will definitely be on the hunt for some new shades this fall/ winter!

Also lately I have been obsessed with buying jewelry, and my newest edition is this necklace from Les Signes in the OIOI department store. I chose this necklace for this outfit as it paired well with my red lip and dressed up the clothes. It's crazy how just a few accessories can enhance your look..probably why I can't leave the house without them!
